According to reports, Manchester United is currently in the lead to secure the signing of Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise.

However, Liverpool also holds a keen interest in the player, as revealed earlier this week by David Ornstein of The Athletic.

The Reds are actively looking to add a wide player to their squad this summer, and Olise’s name has emerged as a potential target. The 22-year-old winger is attracting attention from several clubs, including Liverpool, as they consider a potential summer move.

According to a report by James Olley from ESPN, Liverpool has shown interest in Michael Olise, and their potential offer of Champions League football might attract the player. The significant aspect of Olley’s report is that Manchester United, Liverpool’s rival, is currently leading the race to sign Olise from Crystal Palace. ESPN’s report indicates that Olise’s valuation ranges from £50M to £60M.

During the previous summer, there were talks of Chelsea potentially signing Michael Olise; however, due to an error in the activation of his release clause, the French winger ended up extending his contract with Crystal Palace.

Considering his abilities, what potential contributions could Michael Olise bring to Liverpool?

Despite missing a significant portion of this season due to separate hamstring injuries, Olise showcased his talent whenever he was fit to play. In his 16 appearances in the Premier League, he made 11 goal contributions, an impressive feat considering he started in only 11 matches. Typically deployed as a right winger, Olise has also demonstrated his versatility by earning several starts as a number 10 in Crystal Palace’s attacking lineup.

Olise’s strongest traits are his dribbling and passing. He can often use his strong left foot to cut in and deliver the ball over the top to the Palace forwards. His dribbling allows him to evade defenders and open up space to make crosses or passes into the penalty area, allowing the Frenchman to rack up assists.

Michael is a quad-national; he can represent France through birth, England through residency, Algeria through his mother and Nigeria through his father. To date, he has only played at the youth level for France, but a move to a bigger club would increase the attention around the player on his international future.
